Happy Valentine's Day

Too bad I can't say Happy Valentine's Day, but I'm dressed in RED to portray it!!!!

Please excuse mummy, she looks and sounds weird, but she doesn't know how to remove her face from the video.... and there was no time to re-take it because...

We were headed to Kelly's Steakhouse at Bondi Juntion for lunch!

We ordered the scotch fillet with pork ribs combo... SO HUGE!!!! A very filling and satisfying meal indeed (for mummy and daddy, that is!)

The next day (today), daddy had to work, so mummy went shopping and bought me...

And a bunny rabbit soft toy sempena Easter :)

Weather is crazy weird, it's almost as though we've headed straight to winter!!!! It's been about 18-20 degrees the whole of last week , brrrr.... starting to catch a cold~

Weird weather and Melbourne

Hrm, heatwave over the weekend and sudden temperature drop the next day.

It was 20 degrees and COLD today! Compared to 40 degrees last Sat.

Nothing compared to Melbourne though, tragic - so many lives lost in the bushfires.

Speaking of Melbourne... AirAsia having free flights promo!!!! Why oh why don't they fly to Sydney?? If we lived in Melbourne, we could get free tix home.

After airport tax, etc, only RM300 bucks for 3 ppl!!!

SHEESH! WHY CAN'T AIR ASIA FLY TO SYDNEY TOOO!!!!

VERY TEMPTED TO BOOK IT! But direct flights may be more convenient for lil ol me!!!!

Heatwave!

It's been REALLY hot the last week here in Sydney, and I'm recovering from slight heat rash!!!!

The new apartment is a lot warmer than the old one, simply because it's low rise and split level.

I'm sweating all the time, and daddy thinks it's normal because he remembers being sweaty when he was a baby too!!!!

Here's me in my playpen, all sweaty faced! (See, got a bit of heat rash on my right cheek)

Fell asleep in my playpen, still sweating!

Chewing on my teething toy!!! Still sweating!!!

Now, mummy has to leave the air conditioning on the whole time we're at home, to make sure I don't get anymore heat rash (it started clearing up when the air con was turned on!)

And the child care has found a way to help..... Tying my hair up!!!! Hahahaa.. I look sooooo CHINESE-Y!!!!

Crawling baby

Mummy and daddy have started letting me crawl around the house...

Remember I said mummy bought me a hat from the aquarium, it is surprisingly a perfect match to my clothes! See what I mean below:

It's reversible, so it'll match mostly anything I own!!! Pink mah.

Also, it's a long weekend for Australia Day, so the daycare pasted a flag tattoo on my arm! Check it out, nice or not.

Oh, and here I am, Princess Fiona wannabe! Hehe wearing my Shrek ears which mummy picked up from Darling Harbour. As in literally picked it up from the floor. She found it, and looked pretty brand new, so we decided to keep it. It's mine now!!!! Muahahaha.

Don't worry, it's been washed already!

P/S It was a HOT HOT day today, 40 degrees and no wind at all!!!!! We spent the day spring cleaning and washed the car, in preparation for the chinese new year. Will probably head to Chinatown tomorrow for some nice chinese food!!!

Dugong!

We went sightseeing at Darling Harbour today.. it was a nice day - hot sunny 25 degrees..!!! I love summer :)

Highlight of the day was visiting Sydney Aquarium to see the dugongs!

The place was a bit crowded because it's still school holidays, but still a very nice experience!!! I enjoyed myself!!

Oh! And I got souvenirs, mummy bought me a hat, and daddy bought me a T-shirt!!! YAY!

Public vs Private Schools

Who would have thought that mummy would need to worry about what primary school to send me to when I've just barely passed my 1st birthday?!

Well, mummy was talking to some of her colleagues and apparently most of them send their kids to private schools.

These private schools can have waitlists up to 5 years!!!!! Since I have to start kindy by age 5, and start Year 1 by age 6, mummy needs to start weighing the options and making a decision whether to start waitlisting me for a private primary school!

The biggest downside to a private school is the fees - Click here to see what I mean (bear in mind these fees are utterly outdated as childcare per day is closer to $100 per day, not $30-$50!!!) Anyways, average fees for a private school is $10K per annum! Then, when it gets to secondary school it's about $20K per annum!? YIKES! That's a lot of money... vs public schools which are practically free!

So why is everyone sending their kids to private schools? Apparently it's better foundation for the formative years, better discipline, better staff / teachers, better facilities (apparently some have tennis courts, swimming pool, etc etc!) and probably better peers as all the other children would be from similar middle-to-high income families?

Oh well, decisions decisions.... It's so expensive to raise kids in Aussie land!!!!!!! Mummy and daddy are already spending close to $20K p.a. on my childcare costs! (Luckily they get a $7,500 rebate from the government... but still... it's about RM30K p.a.!!!!!!!! That's the equivalent of a fresh grad's salary in KL!)
