XMAS 2009 @ Palm Beach Sydney

It was our first Xmas in Australia, and we were obviously newbies to the trading restrictions around Xmas day...

So we woke up to a cloudy, gloomy Xmas day and decided to be "adventurous" and drive up to Palm Beach, which is about an hour north of Sydney.

Apparently, Palm Beach is home to Sydney's rich and famous, and is also the location of the TV series Home and Away.

After much excitement, we finally arrived at the beach!!!!

Only to find that there were NO shops open for Brekkie, except for this little cafe run by a Chinese lady....

So we had some "OK OK only" tasting quiche, pies and a date scone...

Then off we went to explore the beach. Personally I think Bondi and Coogee are nicer!!!!

Since we already drove so far, we decided to stop by Narrabeen Lakes for some sightseeing.. Again, no shops open, all around the park we could see Aussie families with huge picnic baskets BBQ-ing away...

We just enjoyed the sights, spent some time at the playground...

So, the lesson learnt is - stock up on food for Xmas day, and do a BBQ!
